Alejandro Vargas: 1 Year Taller
I've been helping the team improve our deployment methodology based on my previous experience with other projects. I think this has worked pretty well.
1. How has your role evolved over the past year, and what new skills or responsibilities have you taken on?
I've been involved in front and back end development. Talking about skills i've been learning more about WordPress, I know PHP which is WP base language, but i wasn't aware about several other things about it. Also I've been helping the team to improve our deployment methodology based on my previous experience from other projects, i think this has worked pretty well.
2. What project or client engagement from the past year stands out as your favorite, and why did it resonate with you?
I think I prefer the TruPeer project because it has really good features for the main idea which is schedule work meetings.
3. Please share a challenge you faced this year and how you overcame it. What did you learn from that experience?
One of the biggest challenges was on AMP because I had to learn about queues on Laravel for big file processing. I had to do a lot of research to understand how it work and how to adapt it to the clients requirement. It was a really good experience because I discovered a new feature that I was able to use in the next project I got involved after this.
4. Little Taller places a big emphasis on ownership and orchestration. How have you seen this reflected in your daily work and how has it impacted your work output this year?
I think I'm really familiar with this methodology, it allows me to suggest the client the best solution i can think of, instead of only cover the requirement. Sometimes the client has a more complicated point of view for a request and us making the project ours can suggested easier solutions to their problems.
5. Looking ahead, what aspects of your professional life are you most excited about developing further in the coming year?
I'd like to improve my Databases skills, some of the task on this projects will require this improvement. Also I'd like to continue growing using Laravel's functionalities because I think it is a really powerful framework.
